For different ages and people with different abilities here are some websites that can be helpful in getting started with sports.
i9sports is the largest provider for multi-sports that is solely focused on high-quality, community-based youth sports programs. It is a great place for ages 3 and up to find a league to join in sports such as flag football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and baseball. All you have to do on the website is fill out the criteria for the sports that you are looking for such as age and your ZIP code. A list of sports leagues will pop up that will allow you to register for those sports or look more into those leagues. Another great place to get involved is with Move United. They are an adaptive sports organization that is committed to getting everyone regardless of ability have an opportunity to participate in sports. They are in 43 states with their 200 member organizations. Move United also has a tab where you can sort by your criteria, and they will give you events going on in your area that you may sign up for. They are also an affiliate with the Paralympic and U.S. Olympic committee. If you’re a college student, the first two websites may not have pertained to you but IMLeague is your place where you can get involved in your schools’ intramural sports. It’s a great spot for college students to get involved. They have sports in many different areas with prizes given out at the end of each season. They have a multitude of sports that can vary depending on your college or university. There is no fee in order to participate and depending on the sport the equipment will either be provided or not. If you do not have friends to start up a team you can always become a free agent and get picked up by other teams that need a player.
